Players Tribune (High School Edition): Alyvia Lawrentz, Farewell to the Blue and Gold
To Viking Nation,
Thank you for creating so many opportunities for your students, athletes, and the entire community. Being a Viking since first grade, I’ve been blessed to grow up surrounded by people who genuinely wanted to see me thrive. No matter where I looked, there was always someone I could count on—teachers who went above and beyond to guide me, friends who shared laughter, and families who truly cared.
I’m incredibly grateful for the friendships and memories I’ve made over the years. As I look back on the past four years, I will forever cherish every single day—the good and the bad. I had people in every corner cheering me on in academics, athletics, and life. The opportunities I’ve been given were incredible. I was able to be involved in Varsity Softball, Team 23, Global Scholars, French Honor Society, National Honor Society, For Club, and so many other activities and events.
Viking Nation has helped me grow, learn, and become the person I am today. When I reflect on my time playing softball at Teays Valley, I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I got the chance to play the sport I love with my best friends and accomplish so much. Although I earned several awards this year, nothing compares to the performances and bonds formed through LVS—Lady Viking Sisters. Together, we beat some great teams like Lancaster, played Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza, went zip lining, celebrated senior night (three times!), talked way too much during daily ball work, became OCC League Champs, ate way too much food in the dugout, and played in some nail-biting games. Every single girl on the team showed what it means to be a true teammate. I believe that’s because our team lived out the core values of our softball program.
I’m so excited to carry these memories with me as I take the next step in my athletic career at Ohio Dominican University. Lastly, I want to thank the local sports pages and media in Pickaway County for recognizing high school athletes and highlighting each team’s story. It truly brought the community closer to us.
Ultimately, thank you, Viking Nation, for building a place where I could grow, belong, and be proud to call home.
Sincerely,
Alyvia Lawrentz
